“Gas Storage: Introduction, Performance Constraint andMonitoring with Case Studies in Open and Cased Hole”
by Patrick Egermann and Mei Han (Storengy)
Friday, May 28, 2021 , 12:00 - 13:00 CEST (UTC +01:00 Paris)
ABSTRACT
The presentation will first remind the fundamentals of the UGS (Underground Gas Storage) activity and more specifically the subsurface mechanisms that can rule both the selection and the performance of a given reservoir into a UGS. Then the key role of the monitoring will be explained and illustrated through some examples based on cased hole measurements.
In the second part of this presentation, the application of the advanced logging in gas storage wells will be shown. In France, most of the gas storage wells were drilled several decades ago and are still in exploitation nowadays. The formation evaluation data acquired while drilling in the past by the old open hole logging tools can be limited. In order to recover this missing information, we applied the advanced cased hole logging technology in the market today, into these old wells..
Bio of presenters :
Patrick Egermann
Patrick Egermann is a senior reservoir engineering at Storengy (Engie affiliate) with also a specific mission as Energy Solutions coordinator. He holds MS degrees in reservoir engineering from IFP school and in hydraulic/fluid mechanics from ENSEEIHT and a PhD degree in Earth Sciences and Environment from the University of Toulouse (Leopold Escande Award). He received the Darcy Technical achievement award from Society of Core Analysts in 2016 and the SPE Regional Reservoir Description and Dynamics Award in 2019.
Mei Han
